Embedding ActionDex Information In
Your Actions
You can embed the ActionDex author, URL, and description directly into your action sets and
users with ActionDex will not have to enter the information manually:
-
Create an action in your action set named "ActionDex Info" (without quotes and
using this exact capitalization). The action can be anywhere in your set.
-
For each action in your set, add a "stop message" to the ActionDex Info
action formatted like:

When an ActionDex user synchronizes after loading your set, these fields will automatically
be filled in. To preview what will be imported by a user, save your actions as if you were
going to do a resync and use . Note this does not do a synchronization, it simply shows the ActionDex
info messages in your actions file.
Including ActionDex Notes With Your
Actions
You can include a specially formatted README type text file that ActionDex users can import
(via ) or simply drag and drop onto
the notes pane. Your notes file can include detailed usage information, tips, etc. Simply add
the notes using the following format to the end of your README file:
ActionDex Notes:
Set: Acme Frames
Action: Black Frame
Creates a thin frame around the image. The width of the
frame is adjustable. A drop shadow can also be added
during the last step of the action.
After the action completes, you can modify the "Frame Color"
layer to adjust the frame color.
You may want to run "White Border" prior to this action.
Set: Acme Frames
Action: White Border
Creates a white border around the image. The border width
is adjustable.
A few things to remember:
-
You may name the file anything you wish.
-
You can have any arbitrary text you want up to the ActionDex Notes: marker. After the
marker the information must use the above format.
-
The note for a given action must be 30,000 characters or less.
-
The ActionDex Notes: marker must be in column 1.
-
Be sure to include a reminder that if the user has ActionDex, they can just drag and drop
the README file into the notes pane.
Including ActionDex Previews With Your Actions
Simply run each of your actions and save the files as small JPEG files (about 320x240, medium quality)
and name them "SetName_ActionName.jpg". Instruct the user to copy the preview file(s) into
their ActionDex preview folder.
Linking to the ActionDex Web Site
If you distribute your actions via the web, and feel like helping promote ActionDex, you can
include a link on your download page to the ActionDex web site with the graphic and image link below (you can right click the image
below and select ):

The image link to use is:
